Lakeside

When a project presents an amazing site often the key  to a successful outcome is making sure you provide ways to reach out into those views and also be grounded with that relationship with the immediate landscape. This lake house completed in collaboration with OK architects provides both a constant “look” into the distance while also providing various opportunities to connect with the site.  The floating wood stairs that echo the form of the house was one way we achieved both connections at once. The bleacher steps allow for lake viewing and also allow a direct connection down to the firepit. The massive boulder was a happy accident- it was too big to move out of the excavation- and provided a a great tie in and terminal point for the steps as they angled to the lake. A fun hot tub deck integration and courtyard spaces round this out. The native landscape is growing back in- should provide a seamless carpet around the home.
