HILLSIDE SPA

Blending the native hillside into the various spaces from this home was an important goal for this home.  

To achieve this native plants and locally sourced boulders were used - these allowed the various patio and deck areas to feel a part of the surrounding landscape. The boulders played on the idea of both being a part of the landscape and also being sculptural - some exist in a strongly integrated way- such as around the wood hot tub, and some like the boulders around the pool, were placed to be in contrast with the smooth concrete surface. Both effects work well to nod towards nature while also providing utility.
